Brothers

One of the coolest aspects of living at an all boys boarding school is that Edmund has a lot of big brothers.  I can't tell you how many times a day a student comes up to him and says "hows my little brother doing". Even one of Cory's advisees had a heart to heart with my yesterday saying that he can't wait to come up over the years to visit and watch his little brother grow up!

Here is one of my favorite pictures of recent.  The only downside is that in the second picture Edmund's face is a little blurry.  This student though was actually laughing at something Edmund did and it was so cute how they just sat there together watching the boys and throwing rocks.  Edmund LOVES the boudlering cave!

Tuesday was a banner day.  I slept from 7pm to 7am for my mom.  Then she was able to get her first hot shower of the week (and first morning hot shower in months).  Then I took a killer nap which gave mama the chance to sneak in, put on some running clothes and get a good run in.  It was great.  I was happy for her.  Then we played. Real hard. And it was real fun.

Birthday Blast Off!

I am from a family that loves to celebrate--it really doesn't matter what it is.  But we do make sure to celebrate the great occasions like birthdays, graduations, new jobs, babies, and really any holiday!  I love this about my family and I love that the celebration jean passed down to me.  What better occasion to celebrate than the first birthday of your son?  I think first birthday's are funny...really, you are throwing a big party (that he'll never remember) that is probably more to celebrate that we have made it as parents than he has lived for a year.

Well, we did what we could to make the party about him and from my opinion it was a blast (and truly exhausting).  Thanks to my friend Rachel at rachelps designs we had some sweet robot invites and decorations (follow the link to see the invites).

One Year of Love

Although January 1 is the official start of the new year, I truly don't feel like my new year started until January 26.  That was the day my life really changed--and in my eyes, my new year began. Therefore, that is the start of my new year.

It has been an unreal ride that I know will only get better, probably more challenging at times, but most definitely will continue to feel me with crazy amounts of joy.

The one year stats:
Height: 31''-90%
Weight: 21lbs 10oz-25%
Teeth: 6, 3 on top, 3 on bottom-the doctor laughed and said "to each his own" meaning that teeth normally don't come in like that, but its all good

Other fun facts about Edmund Breck Woods:

• Shots: takes them like a man and generally gets rewarded with ice cream
• Sleeping:  MUCH better!  We are finally taking naps in the crib and don't have to be fed to get that way...he still fusses for a little bit, but will give in and take 2 great naps!
• Walking:  we are on to attempting to run
• Jumping:  we are trying, and its real cute!
• Balls:  We love them--our favorite is the cars ball uncle Jeremy gave that he can even catch!
• Dancing:  Michael Jackson watch out (from the grave)--I kid you not, he moonwalked one night-my parents even saw it!
• Cleaning:  we love the vacuum and even pretend our golf bag is a vacuum pushing it around the room making the noise
• Eating: fruits of all kinds, veggies of few kinds, ice cream from daddy, pasta and cheese, pancakes and waffles, yogurt, cottage cheese, quinoa and black beans, and turkey are our favorites
• We love smiling, 'smiling is our favorite' and laughing
• He loves 'playing' with the big kids (not the boys, but other kids) and will follow them, and try and do the same things they are
• The Kansas fight song makes him happy and he looks awesome in crimson and blue
• Reading is wonderful-"That's Not My Dinosaur", "10 Little Monkeys Pop Book", "Brown Bear, Brown Bear", "Pat the Bunny", and The Hungry Caterpillar" are our favorites! (Cory and I have all of them memorized)
