Littlest Mountain Man

Edmund is the littlest Mountain Man I know.  That makes his daddy and I happy.  What also made us happy is this awesome  infant PFD with a rubber ducky sewn on it that we found at REI.  What was not a happy moment was after we got home and daddy decided he should have bought it then and there.  Its okay though, we still got the jacket and daddy got something else.  Here are some pictures from our maiden voyage with Edmund in the lake.

He is halfway striking the "I'm king of the world" pose...he really has no choice though, I am not sure if he can actually sit while wearing his little ducky PFD.

We have taken Edmund out a couple of times and he generally likes the ride for a little while and then I think he gets cold.  He is a trooper though, almost daily he joins mommy hiking around the mountains. I decided today that its about time to get this:
This is the Kelty FC 2.0 Kids Carrier.  I think it will make hauling my bag of flour...I mean, bundle of love around the woods a whole lot easier.  I love the Baby Bjorn, but my boy is getting big and having all that weight just chilling on my front-side while hiking up hill adds some unique challenges.  PLUS my boy is so long that I have to hold his feet up when I go uphill so I don't crush them with my massive thighs.  AND if I need to run from any wild beasts it would be much easier to do with this (thats for you dad).

Finally, to go with the mountain man theme, here is a picture of Edmund rocking his 'LIVESTRONG' shirt from Rhonda.  Cory's hand is kind of covering it, and unfortunately it now says LI ESTRONG, but we know what it means.

Besides being an all star basketball player we fully anticipate Edmund to dominate in the 2028 Tour de France.  This of course will be prior to him starting his dominating college basketball career at KU.  Lance, Alberto, and Sherron, prepare to meet your match.

Much Overdue

What seems like forever ago we took a trip to Kansas and one of the highlights was getting to meet sweet Harper Jost.  Harper is one week older and wiser than Edmund and I am pretty sure both Hillary and I have our own little schemes working in our heads to ensure these two will be bffs--for real.  One thing that was really fun for me was getting to go on a walk with Hillary and Harper (and I am sure James and Cory enjoyed going for a bike ride).  While on the walk we took our kiddos on a little tour of our educational journey.  The first stop was at the site of Rhonda's infamous puddle incident and then we crossed the street to show them the location of four great years.  This is my favorite (and truthfully one of the only) pictures from the walk
Two things to note here:
1.  Harper and Edmund slept through 99.8% of our walk
2.  That sign would have made life so much easier for those of us on the sign committee in Student Council.  Those Stuco kids have no idea how easy they have it now.

Here are some other promised pictures of Harper & Edmund's play date.
the proud mamas...we still can't take our eyes off our own sweet babies
This is how their conversation went
E:  Hey pretty lady I like your pink stripey top
H:  Yours too-that pacifier makes you look young, how old are you?
E: I'm 6 weeks, how old are you? Here, is this better?  I also like your hair, its so soft
H:  I'm seven weeks, I always thought I'd find an older man, but your cute!
H: (looks away as playing hard to get)
E:  I think you are cute too, maybe we should hold hands
H: I don't know, my daddy says I can't date until I'm 30. I'm 'tired
E: Me to.

H: Phew, that was a good nap--hey I think you are neat
E: I think you are neat too. Wait did we both change clothes?
H: yea, I don't know how that happened our mom's are clever
E: You look pretty in purple sunshine
H:  Awww, thanks.
E:  I think we should hold hands, it will make these crazy people taking our pictures happy.
H:  Okay, do it for the psycho moms
H:  Well I gotta go, its time for me to go to the bathroom and as a lady I can't make those noises in front of you.
E:  You are sweet.  I'll talk to you later baby

Smiles & Swims

It's back-Glee-it starts again-this week.  Thank the Lord.  Truthfully, the sole reason I have been watching American Idol has been for the Glee commercials.  Let's be honest, most of the people on American Idol are about as good as going to a high school talent show.  This season is not that great, but boy does it get me excited for Glee.

Thanks to the enormous amount of time Edmund spends eating I am fully up to date on most every tv show that I even have the tiniest bit of interest in.  When it comes to LOST though I am still scratching my head and asking the questions of "what" and "how did that happen".  All I know is that I hope it doesn't end lamely-that would be uber disappointing.   If you haven't been watching Modern Family or Community you are missing out.  Its great humor at 7am or 7pm--you can't go wrong with those.

I wanted to share some more pictures from the last couple of weeks with Edmund.  He is growing like a weed, has taken his vaccination shots like a man, and has managed to save his diaper blow-outs for Sunday's at church (he works like clockwork I guess).  He's a sweet little guy.  If you haven't met him yet you should come out and visit.

Thanks to aunties Rachel, Rhonda & Jessi for these adorable creations

This is his first time in the bumbo!  Not too shabby

Chillin' in the hotel

Baby's first swim
his rattle, like most things in his hands (including hands) end up at his mouth!

Glamour Shots

These were not taken by Deb nor did we get a special one time offer, but we did get some super special pictures taken of Edmund when he was almost three weeks old.  Its amazing how much he has grown and changed in such a short period of time, I really cannot believe it.  Anyways, here is a nice little flashback to when our little man was a little shorter.

Funny Happenings & Lessons

Edmund is a funny boy and gives Cory and I numerous laughs throughout the day.  Wether it is his precious smiles, his talking or his sleepiness, Edmund makes us laugh.

One of his new things is his staring contest with Mr. Owl.  His bouncy seat has three woodland creatures, one of which is a giant owl, with giant sticker eyes, that of course never blink. Whenever we put Edmund in there he proceeds to stare at it intently and try to intimidate it by yelling at him.  Usually the owl can keep him occupied long enough for me to take a shower during the day which is nice.  Last night though he appeared to be in distress over the owl.  So much so that he no longer was sitting in his bouncy seat, but continued pushing himself up to standing as if he was trying to get away from it.  Cory decided to take the woodland creatures off and it was magical.  He calmed down, sat down and proceeded to enjoy the nice vibrations of the chair.  It has been pretty funny to watch him yell at the owl, but I think it was making him really mad.  So no more Mr. Owl.

Edmund has also been give some giant stuffed animals that engulf him.  Here you see him working to tame this dog (unnamed).  There is also Leo, the giant lion which we have yet to capture on camera during play time with Edmund.

Edmund has also become a licker--anything that gets close to his mouth he proceeds to lick.  Like his favorite ball.  I don't think the picture shows it too clearly but he is sticking his tongue through the holes of the ball--its real funny.  I like that this is his favorite ball right now because it is orange...like a basketball.

He has also begun drooling a good bit, as seen here.

Each day is new for the both of us and this Easter Sunday I think I got my first real lesson.  So I will begin a segment called "lessons"--and I will list various lessons learned through various posts.

Lesson 1:  Take Edmund's picture first thing when dressed up all cute.  You never know when he will decide to defy gravity with his bowl movements.

Look What I Can Do!

My sweet boy is now two + months old!  He has already surpassed the two foot mark on our jayhawk growth chart-this continually gives me hope of raising a basketball star.

The Stats:
Age: 9 weeks 1 day
Height: 25 in
Weight: 12 lbs
Eating: Hoards
Sleeping: Just enough
Favorite Activity: Bath time
Favorite Song: "Bicycle Race"-Queen

Fun tricks now include holding objects, reaching for things, talking, yelling, rolling, and bicycle kicking.  We've worked hard, and we finally got a video of the boy rolling, or maybe its better described as toppling over (its only taken 3 weeks to get the video).  Its so funny.  Make sure your sound is up so you can hear Cory and Edmund's yell.  Cory jokes that tummy time is our form of child abuse because he generally hates it, but he is getting better at getting off his tummy on his own.

On other news, I am now the official owner of my first mommy matching sweatsuit--really it means I am just a mini-van away from the preverbal soccer mom look.  I was thinking about it the other day and having a kid did not make me feel old, being on the closer side to 30 hasn't made me feel old, but getting this little semi-matching outfit put me over the top.  I am not ashamed though--I love it!  I feel so sporty in it with my little nike shoes pushing Edmund around in the Bob.

The rest of the day will be spent planning April Fools Day tricks with Edmund!  Happy Spring!
