We Have a Drooler

Its official, we have a drooler on the verge of becoming a cannibal.  We can see the beginnings of his first tooth and definitely feel the ferociousness of his bite (or gumming for now).  Sometimes I'll give him my finger as a teether and then almost immediately regret that decision due to the pain being inflicted.  If it gets close to his mouth, he lunges at it, beware.  Yesterday he thoroughly enjoyed sucking on a Reece's Pieces bag (but I think he could taste the residue of the delicious snacks that were once inside).

On another note I think we are training a lion tamer/wrestler.  Meet Aslan Leo.  This is Edmund's 2.5 ft. tall lion from his Great Grandma Lyon.  He loves A.L and A.L loves him.  Often when Cory is home on a break he'll be sure to help the boys wrestle and then ged Edmund all wound up for mommy and then promptly leave to go back to work.  Here you can see the two sharing a moment and then Edmund giving A.L a little bump on the chin.

4 Months of Love

My smiling little monster is four months old, its crazy.  Its crazy how much life changes in an instant and how much it continues to change each day...and I LOVE every second of it.

So here are the stats:
Height: 26.5 in.
Weight: 14 lbs 4 oz
Head Cir: 16.5 in.

He still loves being outside and its funny to see how much the boys at school love to play with him.  The most amazing thing he did at the doctor yesterday was scoot himself all the way across the table and he even lifted his bum up in the air once or twice while doing that.  It was exciting, then scary, because I know at some point he will really begin moving and then I am in trouble!

This last weekend Uncle Mikie (aka the Dean from Community) and Aunt Mary came to visit.  We took Edmund to our nation's capital for the first time and although he slept through most of the sites I think he had a super time, I know we did.

The Best Thing I Ever Ate

One of my favorite shows on the Food Network is called The Best Thing I Ever Ate.  It is where FN chefs/hosts share their favorite ______ .  All I know from that show is that I really want to go to the Frontera Grill in Chicago, it looks amazing.  On that note about a month ago I possibly had the best thing I have ever eaten. 

Prepare yourself for this one.

It is a Vegeterian Lasagna!  I know, right!  There is not much that I love more in the food category than a great piece of meat, but this lasagna was absolutely incredible.  It is from a resturant in Virginia Beach called EAT: an american bistro.  You can easily walk right past it at the end of the boardwalk, but I promise you that you do  not want to miss this joint.  Its in a cozy, intimate space with a creative and unique menu.  Unfortunately I falied to get pictures of any of the food or the place itself, but I will return one day. 

Onto the food.  For an appetizer we had fried goat cheese and it came with a wild clover honey served with crostini & petite salad.  Yummy.  Now my lasagna.  It was a free form lasagna (not your traditional bake in a giant pan lasagna).  It was layerd with toasted pinenut ricotta, grilled zuccini, pistachio pesto, sun-dried tomato sauce and a charred yellow tomato.  The plate also had some great balsamic type sauce that was amazing.  It does not sound like much, but friends, this meal left me speechless.  It was SO good.  It was so good and I didn't have a single piece of meat the entire meal. 

I long for this dish, but loathe the drive back out there.  Not to mention I don't even like the beach that well. One day Eat: an american bistro, we will meet again. 

My Week According To TV

This is a post I've been meaning to do for a while, its just that have a little baby really eats away at blogging time.  I don't mind though, I'll do anything for those sweet little smiles, sorry blogger fans.  For a while my wee little monster was a marathoner--not runner, but eater.  I think he approached eating as though he was running a marathon, which means he took his sweet little time and I hope savored each delicious drop of nourishment he was taking from me.  Because of that he afforded me hours upon hours of tv watching.  FYI, if you are a fan of sports and are considering having a child, you should probably wait four more years and time it for when the Olympics is going on--I mentioned it before, but I watched EVERY Olympic event this year, and it was awesome.  Not only did I get to enjoy the Olympics, but I saw all of March Madness and the Masters.  I don't even enjoy watching golf all that much, but it was something new.

First off a huge thank-you to the technology gurus who created DVR.  Not only is it better than recording stuff on a VCR, but I can record two things at once!  And for whatever reason we do not get a local channel, but we get two of each of the three major networks; an ABC-east, ABC-west and so on.  Which means on Thursday nights I can record a lot of shows!

So here is how my DVR line-up goes
Monday: How I Met Your Mother, & Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood (yep, I'm admitting to that)
Tuesday: LOST, Glee, American Idol, & Parenthood
Wednesday: Modern Family, Criminal Minds, & American Idol
Thursday (the jackpot of tv days): 30 Rock, The Office, Community, Private Practice (poor Dell), Grey's Anatomy, & CSI

Not to mention a myriad of other shows get recorded like stuff on the Discovery Channel, Criminal Minds episodes off of A&E, Ultimate Parkour Challenge, E:60 (gotta get my ESPN story fix), & various Food Network shows.   

So that is my tv line up. Thankfully the wee monster has really ramped up his feeding split time so I get to spend less time in my "throne" in front of the tv.  I have also enjoyed reading during chow time and am in the market for a good new book, so please shout out any recommendations!

3 Months of Love

Its a little late I realize, but this boy sure keeps me busy.  He is still growing (read eating) like a champ and brings countless smiles to our faces each and every day.  We tried to do some home measurements at his three month mark and here is what we came up with

Weight (via the Wii): 14 lbs
Height (via hanging him upside down...just kidding): 25.5 in

He is a standing man and loves his exersaucer, which we are super thankful for.  He has started rolling various directions from time to time and is quite the chatty little boy.  The Hokie-Pokie can make him break out into loud laughter as well as skinny-marink-a-dink-a-dink.  After a certain period of time his car seat because the plastic seat of doom and the one thing that can always calm him down is a walk outside.  He is generally anti-sleeping when he is around other people and has learned how to perfectly time getting frustrated at meal time for right when our food is ready.

He is growing and learning everyday and its so fun to watch how he changes each and everyday.  Actually its unbelieveable how he changes.  It was fun to celebrate Mother's Day and I am excited to celebrate Father's Day.

Roly-Poly

As a way of celebrating turning three months old last week Edmundo decided its time he starts moving.  Now I have a roly-poly for a baby.  Any time the wee man is on his back his legs automatically come up and the he proceeds to roll to a side.  Several times he has even decided he'd rather be on his belly than back and he rolls all the way over.  He quickly realizes that was a bad idea (because he can't always get his hands back above his head) and begins to let out a muffled moan.  Imagine my surprise when I laid him on his back in his play mat one afternoon, walk away to grab my water only seconds later to hear some strange noise coming from that area of our apartment--when I get back to him there he is, head propped back up like a champ, chilling on his belly.  It made me do a double take and then I became a proud mama, celebrating this new achievement in my little monsters life.

Daddy's Boy

Edmund is a Daddy's boy. He gets really excited when Daddy makes a quick stop at home during the day, he loves to fly with Daddy, and go hiking with Daddy.  He even likes working with Daddy, as seen below.  He's lucky to have such a super Daddy.
